Join us as we say thanks to Mr. Larry Brown and his team of students from Cape Cod Academy
What started off as an idea at a Cape Cod Academy coffee house eleven years ago has grown into the “Shelter from the Storm” concert: a first-class concert featuring the best and the brightest young performing artists from across the Cape donating their time and talents to benefit those less fortunate.
Mr. Larry Brown and his students have a special relationship with Duffy Health Center. Each August from 2012 to 2014, Mr. Brown and his team worked with Duffy staff to host Cape Cod’s Stand Down for Homeless Vets. More than 100 vets and their families were offered services ranging from teeth cleaning and haircuts to medical and legal services, all in the air conditioned comfort of the Cape Cod Academy gym.
Last year, Mr. Brown and his team dedicated all proceeds from the Shelter from the Storm concert to Duffy Health Center’s Medication for Addiction Treatment Program for teens and young adults, ensuring that local youth could receive treatment for substance use disorders close to home. This significant donation has had a profound impact on the youth we serve.
Duffy Health Center staff and leadership are fortunate for the partnership with Mr. Brown and his students, and wanted to find a special way to show appreciation for Larry’s leadership.
In honor of Mr. Brown, his team and their commitment to social justice, we are happy to announce that we will be dedicating a conference room in our clinic to Mr. Larry Brown. We feel this is a fitting way to concretize the dedication Mr. Brown and his students have shown in their desire to make Cape Cod a better place for all its residents.
We recognize that there may be others in the community that would like to join us in honoring Mr. Brown. You may do so by clicking here and entering Mr. Larry Brown’s name in the tribute section.
